Poem Contest

Ok everyone! Get your creative juices flowing! This poem contest is on until May 30.

Here are the rules:

1) Choose a category for your poem. Categories are...
a)Free-verse
b)Haiku
c)Rhyme

2) You may write a poem in each category. There will be three winners, one in each category. Only one poem in each category. You are allowed to replace a poem of yours with a different one, just say so.

3) No putting down other people's poems, no matter how much you dis-like them. If they want comments, either dont' answer or say its "interesting." Some people have great potential, others don't. But you don't need to put them down because of it.

4) Have fun!

hmmm..... i'll start with a free verse about summer that I wrote by using a postcard picture....

Summer
The summer crowds come
The people, the sand, the sea
Hear,
The roar of waves
The call of gulls
The air is cool
Boats pull in
Out of water
Hot, sandy grains turn cool to touch
Stand,
Smell the salt
Feel the spray
Turn away,
Summer has gone only to come again

Eh, why not. This is either Free-verse or rhyme, could be both.

The Night Sky

Flames of crimson, stars of gold. Just two things that the night sky holds

Sinful Spyglass, of Galleleo's design, reveal to me things that are divine.

Of comet blue and rocket red, these things spur thoughts within my head.

Violet sunset, murky clouds, show me the beauty that you enshroud.

Our own sun, a fellow star, to find, it's truly not far.

Shining bright, all seasons right, to behold, your flaming might.

Blackest Matron, the midnight sky, stars a twinkling, I wonder why.

Spirits requiem, to raccoons delight, of things bountiful, in this night.

Come twilight now, precursor to you, the prologue to, the darkest hue.

The gem, the eye, the royal jewel, not something upheld by a fool.

The oasis beacon, shining silver bright, shoots pizazz, all through the night.

Pondered by many, worshipped by some, guardian of earth, till morning come.

One thing: The Moon, witch steals it's light, as to not give up, this eternal fight.

This hunk of rock, witch can't be beat, shines through springtime rain, and summers
heat.

And even through Autumn Chill and Winter Snow, the moons phases continue to show.

Beyond the guardian, in black void dark, 'tis starlight, starbright.

Hark!

From Aries Ram, to Pisces fish, the glimmer shines, now make a wish.

Gemini Twins of Constellations complex, astronomers, astrologers, you perplex.

Further still, galaxies spinning, a quest for knowledge, mankind ain't winning.

Heavenly bodies, mystify me, so many zillions of things to see

I look to the sky and wonder why, such beauty, out of reach.

No man shall know, the truthful whole, that knowledge we shall never breach.
